Brrrr Hampstead Heath Freeze Times! Thank Goodness For Blanche In The Brambles.

Tuesday saw Indy and I enjoying a sunny, yet super frosty walk on Hampstead Heath. Indy didn't go swimming for the first time ever. Which makes a change, on Saturday she belly flopped of a 3ft drop straight into a lake!

The sudden drop in temperature was a bit of a shock (I haven't even picked out a winter coat yet).
But I was prepared with my super snug Blanche in the brambles sheepskin collar.

We're not ashamed to admit:

Old School Hollywood Movie Stars and their Dogs

Winter is upon us and that means walking Indy in muddy boots, with a big coat on! Not very glamourous.

It got us thinking, how lucky to have been the dog of a classic Hollywood movie star. It's never cold in California and they probably all had their own mansions with a swimming pool!

We can't get enough pictures of Audrey Hepburn and her Yorkie Mr Famous. Who knew Frank Sinatra gave so many dogs as presents and we defy you not to get a little teary watching James Stewart recite his poem

Here's a few of our favourites.

What! No Pumpkin Puree!

Welcome to our Halloween Blog post.

Indy in her witches hat
We had planned on making some delicious pumpkin dog treats, however Crouch End is in the grip of All Hallows Eve fever and has sold out of pumkin puree (also our oven has broken, someone really doesn't want us to bake biscuits)!

Indy was distraught when I broke the news, but soon came round to the idea of treats from her snaffles party mix.

Snaffles delicious handmade treats £4.50 - £5.50

There is still time left to order one of our Spookey Boo Ties , just select standard shipping before 4pm today and we will try our best to get it to you by tomorrow.

Spooky Boo Ties £8.00

This will be our first Halloween with Indy and although we are excited about the idea of all dressing up together and having fun there are a few things to remember:
  • Some dogs love dressing up and enjoy the extra attention, some might not be so sure (Indy is not a fan). Don't push the issue if they're not comfortable, get them a Boo Tie instead.
  • Don't limit your dogs ability to eat, bark and drink water.
  • Make sure the costume is not too tight or restricting.
  • Don't leave your dog unattended in full costume and watch out for choking hazards.
  • Have Fun! Halloween comes but once a year and Bonfire night is definitely not dog friendly.
If you are in need of some inspiration, look no further than Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in New York. We love Barksy and pumpkin spiced latte.

Barksy is amazing.

Last but not least, here are a few Halloween trick or treats we enjoyed this week:

Brain cupcake and scary biscuits from Gails bakery. The Brain has a secret raspberry surprise and those fingers, eeeek!

Life's A Beach.

Last weekend Indy and I decided to take a break from city living and head out to the countryside.

Things Indy hates about the countryside:

Cows, Sheep & Horses (all livestock basically)

Quad Bikes

Steam trains

Things Indy loves about the countryside:

Being able to bark as loud as she likes, whenever she likes.

Muddy puddles

Open fires

Bella the labrador puppy

& chasing seagulls on the beach

Looking for seagulls

Evening walkies

Wazzzuuupppp!

Pup Tart's Big Day Out

On Saturday Pup Tart packed it's bags and headed down to
Cabbages and Frocks, Dog Day Afternoon.
Thanks to everyone who came and saw us, it was lovely to meet new customers(especially Bobby, a beautiful little puppy who looked very smart in her Bone & Rag collar and Found my Animal lead
we had a great day.
Lots of dogs enjoyed our chicken flavour popcorn and a few lucky ones got to take home some giant pom pom and tug toys.
Indy was a bit sad not to place in the bit of ruff competition, but almost bumping into David Mitchell helped her get over it.
With all the excitement I only took a few photos.
